St. Luke's Hospital New Bedford, Mass.
Project Description As part of the $33 million renovation of the buildings at St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, Massachusetts, replacing the older commercial roofing systems with a new long lasting systems was a high priority. Part of this work required Flagship be sensitive to historically accurate specifications, especially the Collins Home historic restoration, which required new shingle and copper work in keeping with what was on the original building.
Going forward Flagship adheres to a facilities management program of maintenance and repair, and at planned points eventual replacement of this medical center's roofing systems. Older steep sloped roofing systems were removed by Flagship and replaced with new synthetic slate and copper trim commercial roofing systems. These are much more cost effective and at least as hard wearing.
Other low slope and flat roofing systems were replaced with new fully-adhered EDPM single-ply commercial roofing systems. This included making the roofing systems watertight around numerous rooftop units.
One special feature of this project was the installation of an EDPM helicopter pad using a special EPDM-compatible paver system for emergency fire equipment and snow removal.
