Corpus Christi Church East Sandwich, Mass.
Project Description
Some of the sections of the building’s commercial roofing are very visible and steeply sloped. For these sections, a shingle commercial roofing technology was chosen. This was very much in the same style as the original materials used, but, with the use of modern technology, a longer life with lower maintenance is expected.
For the low slope roof areas, a fully-adhered single-ply membrane, EDPM, was the obvious choice. With its natural flexibility, EDPM could easily cope with the multiple angles and slopes of the roofing structure and, with its superior weather resistance and durability characteristics, it will help maintain the underlying structure for to 20 years.
Southern Aluminum was then used to cover the parapet walls and also as coping caps. Aluminum is very resistant to corrosion and is also a very light material. Combined with the fact that it is a very malleable material which maintains it's color appear silvery even in the presence of water, long lasting protection was ensured through its use on this church building.
